The following Terms and Conditions apply to the use of this Web site as well as all transactions conducted through the site.

  • Rental businesses cannot lease or rent a boat powered by more than 10 horsepower to anyone born on or after January 1, 1982, unless the person:

    Signs a statement that they have successfully completed an approved boating course or a proficiency exam, OR

    Successfully passes an abbreviated exam, with a score of 90 percent or better, administered by the business and valid only for the period of the rental agreement.

    IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER BEFORE YOUR TRIP TO THE ISLANDS

    RESERVATION TIME

    YOU MUST STAY WITHIN DESIGNATED RIDING AREA AT ALL TIMES (ABOUT A 7 MILE TRIANGLE).

    YOU MUST SHOW UP AT LEAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED RESERVATION. You will receive an orientation on Operation of the Rented Watercraft, Safety Rules and Regulations. You must be present for this Orientation, as well as sign a Rental Contract and a Liability Waiver. This takes approximately 15 minutes, with 15 minutes to allow for variations in the daily schedule. If you are going to arrive late for your reservation, call ahead to the Rental Location and every effort will be made to reschedule you for that day ONLY. If no other time slots are available for that day, you will be charged the full amount of your reservation, as we will keep your reservation open until you arrive and not give it away to other customers. Allow extra time for travel. We have certain slots sold out well in advance, so book early!

    If you were born after January 1, 1982 and do not posess a Boaters Education Certificate, you will need to arrive at least one hour before your reservation time to use study guide and take the test here at the booth.

    WE HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY ON ALCOHOL. IF YOU HAVE BEEN DRINKING, YOU WILL NOT BE RENTED A WATERCRAFT AND YOU WILL NOT BE GIVEN A REFUND.

    The riding area for rentals is a triangle made from the farthest point on the island we can see to the right, the farthest point on the island we can see to the left, and Green Island in front of us. It is a triangle about 7 miles long. The rented watercraft riding area keeps the watercraft within the site of the rental booths at all times.

    RENTAL LOCATIONS

    Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals has multiple Lake Erie Island Locations. Special attention should be paid as to which location you are making a reservation for.

    Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals charges sales tax for merchandise ordered on this Web site based on the Ohio State Sales Tax Rate.

    REFUND CANCELLATION POLICY

    You are welcome to change your RESERVATION up to one week prior to the day of your RESERVATION. You will be charged $15.00 for web master services to make the time available again and to return your payment.

    Within one week we will not issue any refunds unless that RESERVATION TIME is rebooked. If it is possible to rebook that ONLINE RESERVATION TIME, you will be refunded your purchase price, less $15.00 for WebMaster Services.

    Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals will hold your reservation unless we are closed due to weather. If we are planning to close the day of your reservation due to weather, every effort will be made to call you ahead of time to cancel, so as to not inconveneince your travel plans. If we close due to weather, and we have not contacted you prior to your reservation, a refund can be made at the booth the day of your reservation, or we will refund your payment by the same means that it was made, or we will mail you a Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals check if provided with a mailing address.

    If we are open, we will hold your reservation and you will be charged for the full amount of the reservation whether you arrive or not. If you are not sure if we will be open or closed, call us at the Rental Location and we will advise you, but assume we will be open and holding your reservation. SAFETY ORIENTATION DEFORE RENTING IS MANDATORY AND THESE SAFETY RULES, REGULATIONS AND LAWS WILL BE ENFORCED DURING THE RENTAL PERIOD. VIOLATIONS OF ANY OF THESE WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION OF THE RENTAL WITHOUT REFUND. SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.
